Title: Custodian

Location: St. Mary Catholic Church (administered through St. Rose, Longview)

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Status: Part-time (2-3 hours/week)


Accountability: All employees assist the Pastor in working toward our mission to see, think, and live like Jesus. This position is accountable to the Pastor and Administrator.


Purpose: Provides cleaning for parish buildings.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


A. Assures St. Mary Church and parish hall are maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dust mopping or vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and collecting/disposing of garbage and recycling.


B. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Custodian. This is accomplished through reading appropriate materials and attending appropriate workshops or participating in other training opportunities. Attends annual archdiocesan safety training.


C. Performs other duties as assigned.

Title: Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry       

Location: St. Rose Church                                       

Status: Part-Time (12 hours/week)                                                               

 

Accountability: All employees assist the Pastor in working toward our mission to see, think, and live like Jesus.  This position is accountable to the Pastor.

 

Purpose: To implement a regional youth ministry program that focuses on catechesis, spirituality, service, and community-building for eighth through twelfth grade students. Also, to coordinate a Confirmation preparation program. Spanish-language and cultural familiarity is beneficial but not required.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

A. Plans and leads weekly youth nights (September through May) by developing a curriculum of catechesis, spirituality, and social opportunities. This should also include occasional service opportunities and liturgy experiences.           

 

B. Supervises and collaborates with existing youth-ministry volunteers. Recruits and trains additional catechists as needed.

 

C. Leads monthly Confirmation preparation sessions from September through May.

 

D. Develops or collaborates with neighboring parishes to provide a Confirmation preparation retreat experience during the year.

 

E. Maintains appropriate registration data/paperwork and oversees gathering of necessary documents for those preparing for Confirmation (e.g. sponsor forms; baptismal certificates).

 

F. Ensures compliance with archdiocesan requirements of Virtue training for volunteers and annual Circle of Grace implementation for youth.

 

G. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for this Catholic ministry

through ongoing personal formation.

 

H. Other duties as assigned.
