MINISTRIES

We have many ministries parishioners can get involved in! Some ministries are only available at one location. Please contact the parish office or fill out this interest form and a ministry leader will contact you.

Provide worship services to Cowlitz County Jail inmates every 3rd Sunday of the month. Volunteers lead songs, read scripture, lead prayer, and provide brief scripture reflections.

Groundskeeping volunteers keep the parish grounds nice by lawn mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, and other landscaping tasks.

Altar Society

Volunteers will participate in major fundraising activities and service projects through their 5 Circles: St. Monica, St. Bernadette, St. Anne, St. Joseph, and St. Frances Cabrini. These circles are responsible for the altar flowers and decorations, event receptions, funeral luncheons, and the Christmas "Caring & Sharing" Trees. Their fund-raisers support purchasing hosts, candles, palms, ashes, laundry services, sacred vessels, altar cloths and linens, and more. 

Detention Ministry

Filipino Ministry

Filipino Ministry fosters fellowship and continues religious and cultural traditions. Volunteers are needed for events and welcoming new members. The Filipino Minstry annually hosts the Simbang Gabi, 9-day novena to Sto Nino, and the Sto. Nino feastday.

Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus participates in service projects and fundraisers to support the parish and local community. The Knights conduct food drives for local soup kitchens and food pantries, volunteer at Special Olympics, and support (both spiritually and materially) mothers who choose life for their babies.

Maintenance Committee

Volunteers may perform a variety of routine or one-time maintenance tasks suited to their skills and abilities. They may also volunteer to help with set up clean-up for special events. The committee leader will contact volunteers when assistance is needed, or for help with a special project.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)

​Volunteers are needed to help with communication to parents (bilingual always needed) and help with classroom set up and clean up.

St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul provides food, clothing, and other necessities to those in need in a nonjudgmental environment. Volunteers are needed to pick up rescue items from grocery stores, working in the warehouse, checking in clients via the computer system, guiding clients through the food pantry, checking out clients, helping bag groceries, and help load clients' cars.

Boy Scouts

Adult volunteers assist with youth skills training, outdoor skills, and activities. Volunteers also accompany youth to summer and high adventure camps.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration is a time to praise and worship Jesus. By attending, the member spends time adoring the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Meet in the small chapel behind the altar of the Church on most Thursdays from 10am to 10pm.

FISH

FISH partners with 18 churches in Longview and Kelso to provide food for people in need. Volunteers from our parish collect food, make food boxes, and distribute food boxes 1-2 times a month.

Homebound Ministry

Homebound Ministry carries on the healing mission of Jesus by visiting our homebound parish members to distribute Holy Communion.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim God's Word during the celebration of the Mass.

Marriage Encounter (Spanish)

Proclaim the value of marriage and Holy Orders not just in the Church, but worldwide. Connect with parish to provide information on weekend experiences and twice-monthly sessions to provide support for couples in the Catholic faith.

Sacramental Prep (2nd thru 7th graders)            

​Volunteers are needed to help with communication to parents (bilingual always needed), assist with classroom management, and assist with the spring retreat.

Welcoming Ministry

Volunteers greet Mass attendees with a smile and an open door and answer questions posed by Mass attendees.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGS applies Montessori methods in a reverent and spiritual environment - called an Atrium - where the children learn about Jesus and The Holy Mass through hands-on activities. Volunteers and needed to assist the lead catechist with directing, observing, and documenting the work of the children. Volunteers can also take the CGS training to become a catechist.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest in reverently distributing Holy Communion during Mass.

Grief Ministry

Grief Ministry provides faith-based comfort, support, and grief education for those who have lost a loved one to death. This ministry utilizes both GriefShare (a faith based 13-week structured support group) and the Stephen Ministry grief support booklet program.

 

People who have already gone through the program may volunteer. Volunteers are needed for facilitating, room set-up, greeting, refreshments, technical & computer support, & Stephen Ministry booklet distribution.

Hospitality Ministry

Hospitality ministry provides an opportunity for parishioners to gather and socialize after Sunday morning Masses. Volunteers are needed for the role of Hospitality Coordinator and Sunday Volunteers. The Hospitality Coordinator schedules hospitality, manages supplies and trains volunteers. Sunday Volunteers are needed for three different shifts: 1) 8am setup 2) Serving after 9am Mass or 3) Serving after 11am Mass and clean up. 

Livestream Ministry

Volunteers manage the sound system and livestream program in the church so everyone can hear and participate in Mass. Mass is livestreamed every Sunday, Holy Days of Obligation, and occasional funerals.

Prayer Line

Provide support in prayer for individuals who are seeking spiritual support from a pressing problem, poor mental health, and worldly issues.

Sacristans

Sacristans prepare the books, vessels, and collection bags before Mass. They work together with altar servers, lectors, and eucharistic ministers to make sure Mass goes smoothly. At the end of Mass, they clean up the vessels and sanctuary.

Youth Group

Youth Group provides a friendly place for teens to learn about their faith, participate in spiritual enrichment, and help the community through service projects. Volunteers assist with the greeting and sign-in process, set up, service projects, snack serving, and maintaining a calm, attentive learning environment.
