Title: Custodian

Status: Part-Time


Purpose: Provides cleaning and light maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds.  This is a part-time position that will provide weekly cleaning for St. Mary's Church in Castle Rock, WA and St. Rose Church in Longview, WA. It will also provide backup for the full-time custodian at the School and Parish Center.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assures that the St. Mary’s Church and parish hall are maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dusting, mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling.

  2. Assures that St. Rose Church is maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dusting, mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling.

  3. Attends annual Archdiocesan safety meeting.

  4. Maintains an inventory of cleaning & hospitality supplies and equipment and notifies facility manager to reorder as needed. 

  5. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Custodian. This is accomplished through reading appropriate materials and attending appropriate workshops or participating in other training opportunities.

  6. Fill in at St. Rose School and Parish Hall/Offices when full-time custodian is not available.  Assures that the school building and classrooms are maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dusting mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows and collecting and disposing of garbage and recycling.

  7. Provide general assistance as needed through setting up chairs, tables in the parish and school facilities as requested.  Helping the full-time custodian and facilities manager as directed.

  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position open until filled. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
