A beautiful Catholic tradition is to remember our beloved deceased family and friends with Masses offered for their eternal rest in God’s presence. The infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass benefit the souls not only of the deceased, but of the living as well.

Mass intentions may be offered for a variety of needs and occasions. For the deceased, a Mass can be requested for the repose of the soul of a loved one. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “From the beginning, the Church has honored the memory of the dead and offered prayers in suffrage for them, above all the Eucharistic sacrifice, so that, thus purified, they may attain the beatific vision of God” (CCC 1032).

 

For living celebrations, it serves as a meaningful way to recognize a birthday, wedding anniversary, graduation, or an anniversary of ordination or entrance into religious life. Additionally, Masses may be offered for special needs, such as a person about to undergo surgery, someone recuperating from an illness, or for any other special prayer intention. If you prefer to keep the specific reason private, you may request that it simply be listed as a "special intention."

Masses are offered for single intentions only: for one person, a married couple, a parent and child, or a single family. If you wish to request multiple intentions, please submit a separate request for each.

Masses to be offered on a particular day and time will be announced in the Sunday bulletin when requests are made at least two weeks in advance. They are also announced during the Prayers of the Faithful at Mass.

 

Each priest-celebrant ensures that he offers the Mass for the intention scheduled. Every effort will be made to meet requests for specific dates and times, though please understand this is not always possible. Please note that a Funeral Mass will always take precedence over any previously arranged Mass.

MASS CARDS

 

You have the option of receiving or sending a Mass card—a greeting card signed by the pastor indicating who requested the intention and what it is for. You may pick up the Mass card at the office to deliver yourself, or provide us with the recipient's information so we can mail it directly.

HOW TO REQUEST A MASS INTENTION​

 

You may schedule a Mass intention using the online form below. You may also request a Mass Intention by calling the office.

 

While a stipend is customarily received, the traditional suggested minimum donation is $10 per Mass. You are welcome to give another amount if you wish.

 

Please note: Your Mass intention request is not considered finalized until you hear back from our Administrative Assistant, Reyna Saucedo. She will contact you at her earliest convenience to confirm your request.
